The home of Israel’s national poet — Pathways

TLV1, in conjunction with Jewish National Fund, continues its ‘Pathways’ series of radio reports examining Israel’s history.

Each week we visit a different historical site in Israel, bringing you sounds, stories, and illuminating perspectives.

In this audio slideshow, narrated by Liya Spiegel, we visit Beit Bialik, the home of Israel’s national poet Hayim Nahman Bialik. The house is an archive of all Bialik’s writings, a fine exemplar of Hebrew architecture, and still hosts writers and poets today.

Find out why Bialik chose to settle in Tel Aviv, rather than Jerusalem, when he and his wife made Aliyah in 1924.
