Big ideas at TEDX Jaffa: Fighting discrimination through empowerment

 

TLV1 Correspondent Shoshi Shmuluvitz went to the TEDx Talks in Jaffa, where she got a glimpse into Bashar Iraqi’s vision for empowering Israel’s young Palestinian residents.

“A friend of mine was shot, along with another 12 citizens — Arab citizens. His name was Asil Asli.” Thus Bashar Iraqi began the story of how he came to establish Darna, an organization that empowers young Palestinian citizens of Israel. Bashar sees empowerment and education as a form of resistance against discrimination. That vision, and the personal journey that led him to it, were the subject of his talk at TEDX Jaffa, a conference about ideas.
