World of Champions: Meet the singing sportsman

How many great athletes can you think of who also had successful music careers? How many people do you know who play on a sports team and play a musical instrument? Most people don’t have the time or the talent to excel in both sport and music. But this guy is different.

Yoav Nash is an Israeli who made his name in the States as a trainer and physio to some of the world’s top athletes, including world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic, tennis legend John McEnroe, NBA stars Dirk Nowitzki and Vince Carter, and the Brazil national soccer team. But his story doesn’t end there. He recently moved back to Israel and is promoting the release of his debut album “Olam Shel Alufim” (“World Of Champions”).

I met Yoav on the tennis court to find out how he ended up treating all these superstar athletes, and to get some advice on my own game. Plus he and his music producer, Amir Moshe (AKA Amirocall), came to the TLV1 studio to explain the inspiration behind the music, and to play some songs from the album. What’s the connection between sport and music, and how on earth does Yoav, a young father, fit everything in?

Music:
Yoav Nash – Ma’anyanim (“What’s Up?”)
George Gershwin – Rhapsody In Blue
The Yardbirds – New York City Blues
IN STUDIO: Yoav Nash and Amirocall – Olam Shel Alufim; Ma’anyanim (“World Of Champions”)
