Linda Gradstein, Gilad Halpern and Noah Efron discuss (1) What to make of the New York Times Magazine’s percussive essay called, “How Netanyahu Prolonged the War in Gaza to Stay in Power,” and (2) The “humanitarian city” that Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz propose to build, and how they possibly think it is a good idea.
Plus, queer shuls, queer musicals, and a tribute to the great songwriter, Sheika Paikov, may his memory be for a blessing.
For our most unreasonably generous Patreon supporters, in our extra-special, special extra discussion: Why does Mandy Patinkin’s angry angst matter to so many of us?

Several thing sin htis epeide trubled me:
1) I’ve noticed in most of the sicussion regarding the hostages it seem slike Naetanyahu is always to blams as though Hamas has no vote. This is absurd. I dont like Netanyahu but igoring Hamas; role is jsut silly.
2) Experts in urbna warfare, andew fox and John Spencer have rised the IDF for low level of civilian casualties inthe Gaza war, If you look at Aizenberg’s analysis of the Hamas figures you wil come to ths samee conclusion, Hamas uses child soldiers.
3) Per the actual Laws of Armed Conflict the party responsible for he death of Human shields regardless of whether they ae voluntary or involuntary is thepary using the shileds not the one attacking thus by law Hamas is repnsib efor many and perhapss most of the civilian deaths in the Gaza war as they have explicitly stated that they use huma shields and expect iditos like Peter Beinert to blame Israel for their deaths,
4) Rgrdidng the “Humantian City”the concept is not necessarily wrong but the devil is n the details, It hsuold not be used to try to get people to leave,, rather it hsould be self governing and palce to strt the rebuilding of the strip to become a mediterranean Singapore.
i.e. the people in the city should be used to rebuild Gaza as they would like it. theye wowuld of course be paid the previaling wage for their work and as ,,pre areas of Gaza are cleared the consturction zone shoulr expand.. First choice for the new housing should go to the people who built it.
