Twenty years ago when Irit and Hagai Treister were pondering how to expand their dairy farm on Moshav Bitzaron to include their children and their families, they decided to set up Israel’s only buffalo dairy farm.

Three hundred buffalo were airlifted into Israel from Italy, where the couple went to retrain.

Today, Israeli cheese lovers arrive at The Buffalo Farm from across the country to buy buffalo ricotta, buffalo mozzarella, and buffalo frozen yoghurt.
