Israel has dozens of winemakers who’ve trained at some of the world’s most reputable and established wine schools.

Yet some of Israel’s best wines are made by winemakers who studied in one of Israel’s fledgling wine programs.

Amichai Luria was a winemaking hobbyist before completing the one-year program at Israel’s Soreq Winery. Little did he know that a passion would soon turn into an obsession. Now an international, award-winning vintner at Shiloh Winery, Amichai takes pains to supervise each and every one of his vines, up and down the country.

Shiloh Winery is located on Israel’s Biblical Wine Trail in the Judean Mountains. Amichai describes what makes winemaking in this area so unique – both from a viticultural and a historical perspective.
