The “Things We See & Things We Don’t” Edition

In this wartime-fever-dream-inflected special episode Miriam Herschlag and Noah Efron talk about (1) the only thing any of us have talked about for the past weeks, what US President Donald Trump called “The Twelve-Day War,” and (2) several things we have NOT talked about for the past weeks, but maybe ought to have, including what’s going on in Gaza, a joint-Palestinian-Israel efforts to get humanitarian aid to Gaza, and an Israeli Rabbi and a Melburnian Bar Mitzvah boy working together to create unity.

All this and music and cats on rooftops, plus as moving a wedding as we’ve ever seen.

For our most unreasonably generous Patreon supporters, in our extra-special, special extra discussion: Despair, anxiety, hope and exhaustion: What we’re feeling now.

A very moving episode. The story of the Rav Danino and Noah Cave had me in tears.

    1. Noah Efron says:

Thank you for the kind word, Lisa. It means a lot to me that you took the time to find the website, just so you could leave some encouragement. I am grateful.

      Warmest,
      Noah

An incredibly moving podcast – a big mazal tov to Miriam on her son’s incredible wedding. Also – the segment on Rav Danino and his family’s quest to honor their son’s memory and mission, and the way a family in Melbourne found a way to help was incredible. This mechina (or other related ideas the Daninos have) would be a meaningful way for us to help in addition to the other projects we support. Are you able to supply a link to some way to donate or connect?
    Thank you so much!
    Naomi

Sorry to take so long to reply Naomi. I agree that Miriam’s description of her boy’s wedding was beautiful. The wedding itself was magical and heavy with meaning and emotion, which won’t surprise you, as this is true of everything Miriam touches. I wrote to Rabbi Danino, after you and others asked, and he said that he has not yet set up the whole legal apparatus that lets him get donations for which people can get tax deductions, etc. Until now, people have just wired him money directly, which I gathered from what he wrote, he knew is not the best way to do what he is trying to do. As soon as he has set up whatever it is that he is setting up, I will try to let you and everyone know.

Until then, I will just say how much it means to me, Naomi, having you write to ask if you can help. It’s such a beautiful thing, and it gives me inspiration and hope. Thank you

      Warmest,
      Noah

Thank you so much for getting back to me – and for sharing some stories that can actually give hope in these times. I look forward to hearing from you somehow on how we can be supportive.

        Kol tuv,
        Naomi
