The “Paths to Perdition” Edition

Miriam Herschlag, Noah Efron, and Deputy Director of the Geneva Initiative Tehila Wenger talk about: 1) The controversial opinion piece in the Times suggesting that Israeli guards and soldiers sexually assault Palestinian prisoners, and 2) Why Jerusalem Day has become an almost sectarian holiday for religious Zionists.

For our most unreasonably generous Patreon supporters, in our extra-special, special extra discussion: Tehila Wenger’s Geneva Initiative has been arguing for a Two-State Solution for 23 years. How has working for peace changed over this time?

Plus remembering Marie Nahmias and a few things that moved us over the week.

  1. I really, REALLY love your podcast. It gives me a window to Israeli life and culture that I am extremely grateful for. I am happy to support your work at the $5/month level.

I would love to be able to access your extra content, but $25/month is more than I can afford. Could you maybe consider lowering that to $10/month?

Also, I have been trying to find that song “Yerushalayim” by Matan Hassan but can’t seem to find it.

Finally – just wanted to tell you guys about this website my friends and I have put out: jewswithviews.com. It’s a repository of books, articles, posts, substacks, etc. supporting Israel. We feature you guys regularly and would be extremely honored and grateful for a shoutout from you! 🙂

    Todah rabah and shabbat shalom!

    1. TLV1 says:

Hi Michael — I hear you, and I really appreciate you listening and caring enough to say something.

We try very hard to keep the main podcast completely free and accessible to everyone. At the same time, the reality is that producing the show week after week — at the level we aim for — depends purely on listener support. Our patrons, especially those in the Extra Segment tier, are actually the single most important source of funding that makes the entire podcast possible.

The extra segment is our way of saying thank you to the people who choose to support the show above and beyond, and help keep it going.

That said, we truly value all our listeners, including you, and we’re glad you’re with us — patron or not.

As for the song, here’s a Spotify link for you.
