Allison, Noah and Tel Aviv Review host Gilad Halpern ponder with angst the decision of the director of human rights group B’Tselem to implore the UN Security Council to act forcefully against Israel, in order to bring about an end to the Occupation.
This is a segment from The “Women’s Ways of Protest” Edition
50 years of occupation is terrible, indeed. However, placing the whole blame on Israel is wrong. Gilad Halpern should remember that Palestinian extremists have destroyed all Israeli governments that wanted to relinquish the Palestinian territories (Rabin-Peres, Barak and Olmert). As long as the Israeli left will (Meretz, B’Tselem, Ha’aretz, etc.) will not recognize that the Palestinians also are in part responsible for the absence if peace, the Israeli peace camp will remain in the opposition. Fortunately, there are still people on the left like Buskila who acknowledge that the fears of the Israeli population are legitimate, and they must be adressed.
Self hating Jews…They’ll be the first ones dumped into the sea…
>People don’t turn to the UN after Brexit
Umm… yes, they do. People have turned to international institutions to enforce their ideology whenever voters reject it. This is an orthogonal question to the moral unacceptability of the Occupation: democracy is simply not accepted anymore when the People vote the wrong way.
