Shock waves buffeted the world of Jewish philanthropy a few weeks ago, when it was revealed that a website called “Canary Mission” is funded in part by the Helen Diller Foundation, which is something called a “supporting foundation” of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco. (Following the revelation, the Foundation pulled its support.)
So why does an American Jewish foundation committed to improving the world, for Jews and others living things, decide that the best use for a hundred grand is to troll folks who criticize and politically oppose Israel (some rather gently, some vociferously, some anti-semitically)?
