Dr. Hanan Harif, a historian of Zionist culture at the Hebrew University, specializes in pan-Semitism in Zionist thought.
His research has focused on Zionist intellectuals, most of whom were of European descent, who regarded the Jewish revival in the Land of Israel as part of a much bigger process – the renaissance of the so-called ‘Orient,’ of Middle Eastern and Asian civilizations.
