“We are always the Palmach” — Pathways

TLV1, in conjunction with Jewish National Fund, continues its ‘Pathways’ series of radio reports examining Israel’s history.

Each week we visit a different historical site in Israel, bringing you sounds, stories, and illuminating perspectives.

In this audio slideshow, narrated by Liya Spiegel, we visit the Palmach museum in Tel Aviv. The Palmach was the elite strike force of the Jewish paramilitary body known as the Haganah, in British Mandate Palestine.

The Palmach played a major role in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, and laid out the foundations on which the Israel Defense Forces were built.
