Dublin-born Robert Segal is the founding owner of Molly Bloom’s, the first Irish pub in Tel Aviv, which has grown in the past decade and a half to a franchise of three branches throughout the city.
Growing up as a Jew in Ireland, Segal initially sided with the Protestant minority and took no interest in Irish culture.
Eventually, he says, he “wanted to become more Irish than the Irish themselves,” but it didn’t detract from his wish to make Aliyah. Ultimately, Segal managed to combine both worlds.
