We ask whether the promotion of an out, gay IDF officer to Major-General, the highest rank ever achieved by an uncloseted member of the LGBTQ community, is cause for celebration or – as some radical activists claim – a moment for worry that the truly radical potential of LGBTQ lived experience is being tamped by the embrace of heteronormative institutions (Did we go to college, or what?).
