Latrun, where military legacies were forged — Pathways

TLV1, in conjunction with Jewish National Fund, is pleased to introduce ‘Pathways,’ an exciting new series of radio reports examining Israel’s history.

Each week we visit a different historical site in Israel, bringing you sounds, stories, and illuminating perspectives.

In this audio slideshow, narrated by Mordechai I. Twersky, we visit Latrun in Israel’s Ayalon Valley, believed to be where Joshua defeated the Amorites and where Judah Maccabee prepared to battle the Greeks.

Given the site’s rich military mythology, it seems an apt spot for a military museum. The Armored Corps Memorial Site and Museum’s impressive tank collection, including the Israeli-made Merkava tank, make this one of Israel’s most popular tourism and educational destinations.
