Let Me Make This Clear to You

In Hebrew, ?הייתי ברורה means ,“was I clear?” Guy’s school principal would lecture him and his peers after they did something wrong, and she would end with “?הייתי ברורה”. This episode is dedicated to the word ברור.

“Sure barur” – Sure, of course – שור-ברור

Rak she-yihye barur – Just to make it clear – רק שיהיה ברור

“She-yihye barur, ani lo nish’ar achrey ha-avoda ha-yom” – Just to make it clear, I am not doing overtime today – שיהיה ברור, אני לא נשאר אחרי העבודה היום

She-yihye lecha barur – Let me make this clear to you (m.) – שיהיה לךָ ברור

Sheyihye lach barur – Let me make this clear to you (f.) – שיהיה לךְ ברור

Barur she-ani agi’a machar – Of course I am coming tomorrow – ברור שאני אגיע מחר

“Barur she-hi-tech hu olam me’atger” – Of course, hi-tech is a challenging world – ברור שהייטק הוא עולם מאתגר

“Aval mashehu ba-avira kan ninoach u-mishpachti” – But something with the atmosphere here is laid-back and feels like family – אבל משהו באווירה כאן נינוח ומשפחתי

Barur lama, ken? – It’s clear why I say this, right? – ברור למה, כן 

Lo barur lama – It’s unclear why – לא ברור למה

Ve-az hu azav ha-kol ve-nasa le-mexico, lo barur lama – And then he left everything and went to Mexico, it’s unclear why – ואז הוא עזב הכל ונסע למכסיקו, לא ברור למה

Achshav yoter barur? – Is it clearer now? – עכשיו יותר ברור

Ma yoter barur, ze o ze? – With which do you see clearer, this one or that one? – מה יותר ברור, זה או זה

“Hayiti brura?” – Was I clear? – הייתי ברורה

Klalim brurim – Strict rules – כללים ברורים

Yesh klalim brurim legabei ze – There are strict rules about it – יש כללים ברורים לגבי זה
